Anstruther

Anstruther is the largest of the East Neuk villages in Fife, within 30 minutes of St Andrews, and was once Scotland’s main fishing port. With almost 1,000 boats in its fleet at the end of the 19th century, Anstruther’s rich fishing history. A history still recognised today with the Scottish Fisheries Museum. The typical seaside village is a fantastic day out for anyone visiting the area, with quaint shops overlooking the picturesque harbour, the original pier and boat trips across to the Isle of May.

Anstruther Golf Club

Founded in 1890, Anstruther Gold Club has transformed a lot over the years. Initially, the course was comprised of seven holes with various trenches and poles scattered around to protect it in war times.

When To Visit Anstruther?

This picturesque fishing village is a great day out all year round, however, if you chose to visit in the Winter months then be sure to wrap up warm. Between April and July, the sea cliffs of the Isle of May are covered in sea birds, and the island is also home to many grey seals. The Isle of May trips from the May Princess only run from April to September.
